The HortProtect program provides coverage for Contractor's Equipment and Miscellaneous Tools on a floater form. A floater is a special form that provides coverage wherever the property is located within the policy's territorial limits, in this program's case – North America. You can rest easy knowing that your tools and equipment are adequately covered anywhere you do business.

The program does not require that you schedule equipment that qualifies under the definition for tools, that is, equipment/tools valued at $1,000 or less for any one/pair/set. Coverage is provided on an All Risk basis and replacement value is based on the Actual Cash Value of the tools at the time of the loss.

Equipment over $1,000 in value is insured on a scheduled basis. The program provides for All Risk coverage. Replacement value is based on the Actual Cash Value of the equipment at the time of loss -or- for equipment 5 years old or newer; you will get the full replacement cost of the equipment.

Short Term Rentals

Let's face it, there are times when you have to rent specific equipment in order to do the job right. The HortProtect program automatically extends to cover $25,000 on short-term (under 30 days) rentals from others. We can insure higher values for longer periods of time with a phone call.

Rental Reimbursement

We realize that there are times when you just cannot afford the time to wait for the settlement of a claim because you are in the middle of a job that has to be finished right away. Subject to a 24 hr. waiting period, the program allows for up to $10,000 reimbursement to pay for equipment that you have to rent in order to get the job done on time.

Tip

You can have your attached machinery (ploughs, tanks) insured on a replacement cost basis by scheduling them as Contractor's equipment as long as they are 5 years old or newer.
